Leading Change

Question – As business leaders we know we must be prepared to change. What’s the best type of change we should be prepared for?

A Strategy for Leading Change

Change is inevitable. Do you have a strategy in place so that you’re prepared for change? Taking it one step further, have you thought of a strategy of how best to lead during a time of change?

Some of the best change is that your core operating processes, call them your core business practices, are improving, becoming more reliable, and producing remarkable business results.  That can all happen within existing product or service offerings. Growth usually requires additional funding to enable and stimulate growth.

One of the most respected business journals, the Harvard Business Review, reported several years ago¹ that most businesses only achieve 70% of their business strategies. Imagine a business that has a focused strategy and leader with a dedicated champion working with their team to make each core process better.  “Keep getting better” is the mantra for change. The champions work as a team, identifying and prioritizing tasks and projects that support improvements. Discipline is certainly a key element. Good leadership usually keeps that in good standing.

Oh, by the way. Increased profitability usually follows the improvements. The Academy of Family Business is the place to learn more about how your business can “keep getting better.”
