In the previous blog I touched on the fact that our PRIME Performance Model is comprised of 12 Best Business Practices. I should add that the practices are inter-related and co-reinforcing. For example, the Best Practices for the Leadership Team are extremely important in the development of a High Performance Culture and must be so oriented.

In this blog I will briefly describe Phase 2 of the PRIME Performance Model which addresses the guiding functions of the model. While all of Phase 2 leans heavily on strategy, discipline bears heavily on the strategic outcomes. To help differentiate focus we have divided the 12 Practices into 6 practices in Phase 1 that focus on establishing foundational PRIME operating practices.  In Phase 2 we establish performance guidance through an additional set of 6 Best Practices:

Performance Guidance

  • Driving Your Critical Numbers

  • Process Management

  • Communication & Relationships

  • Expectations and feedback

  • One-on-one Guidance System

  • Mastering the PRIME PM

 At the heart of these six best practices is discipline. We see it every day in the little things of life like exercise and dieting. The above six practices are the ones that help you:

·      Stay on track

·      Work on the right things

·      Increase predictability of success

Reviewing business results on a regularly scheduled basis is one of the hallmarks of high performers. If your measurement data is high quality, it gets even better. With all six practices in this phase, you are most likely to be looking at the right numbers, working with quality processes, experiencing solid, healthy communication while strengthening the culture, and accountability. Ultimately, the leadership team, under the influence of the CEO gets the credit and rewards for high performance.  This model will show you the way.
